Sr Staff Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Backend Engineer to lead the architecture, performance, and scaling of our core platform. In this high-impact IC role, you will define the technical vision, mentor engineering leads, and solve complex system design challenges using Ruby and PostgreSQL. Experience or interest in blockchain/Web3 technologies is a strong plus, as we explore decentralized integrations and high-throughput transaction ledger systems.

Core Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture: Define and drive the long-term architectural roadmap for scalable, fault-tolerant Ruby backend services and data stores.

Database Optimization: Deep-dive into complex PostgreSQL query optimization, schema migration strategies, partitioning, and connection pooling for mission-critical databases.

System Design & Performance: Architect resilient, high-throughput microservices and APIs capable of handling heavy concurrent traffic with sub-second latency.

Technical Strategy & Blockchain: Evaluate and prototype decentralized/blockchain solutions (e.g., smart contract integration, event indexing, zero-knowledge proofs, or chain data streaming) where applicable.

Mentorship & Governance: Mentor Principal, Senior, and Staff engineers across teams; drive best practices for clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, and system monitoring.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Product, Security, and Infrastructure leadership to align engineering execution with long-term business goals.
